July Dinnerware

Regular price$225.00
This focused Continuing Wheel course is designed to give you the skills and confidence to produce a cohesive table setting that is both beautiful and high-functioning from cabinet to table to dishwasher and back.  Perfect for potters who want to improve their wheel throwing skills while crafting functional pottery for the dining room. This is a four-week course taught by Ian Childers.
Location: This class will be held at our new Downtown studio:  588 Mateo St Los Angeles, CA 90013

This class is designed to improve your speed and consistency in making wheel thrown objects while creating high-functioning, stackable and durable dinnerware sets. At the end of the class you will have a table setting for two, comprised of a plate, bowl, and cup.  Each class will focus on a particular item:

Thursday, June 6th - Week 1: Throwing Plates
Thursday, June 13th - Week 2: Cups, Goblets and Handles
Thursday, June 20th - Week 3: Bowls + Trimming
Thursday, June 27th - Week 4: Glazing Techniques

To get the most out of this class, you should feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in the four week Beginning Wheel course, and can somewhat reliably wedge, center, and throw 2.5-3 lbs of clay. Typically, students take Beginning Wheel twice before taking a Dinnerware or Continuing Wheel class.

In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own.

Continuing Wheel students should bring their own clay, tools, and bats (we recommend at least four 12" bats). We have a supply shop at the studio where you can purchase these things if you need them. The course fee includes firing for up to 15 pieces and use of studio recycled clay.
