Join architect and ceramic artist Sona Gevorkyan for a hands-on advanced exploration of 3D clay printing! This workshop is designed for:

  1. Participants with prior 3D modeling knowledge looking to push the boundaries of form-making through custom shapes, advanced modeling techniques, and controlled detailing.
Workshop Overview:
  • April 26th (Bonus class; not required) – Learn the fundamentals of Potterware software, explore the 3D printing process, and create your first textured designs. This bonus class provides an opportunity to experiment with textures, which can later be applied to the custom forms developed in the advanced class.
  • April 27th (Advanced Participants Only) – Dive into Rhino to develop more complex, customized forms. Learn essential commands to shape and refine your designs.
  • May 3rd (Advanced Participants Only) – Share your progress, receive feedback, and explore advanced techniques for organic and structured geometries.
  • May 4th (Advanced Participants Only) – Finalize your designs and print them using the 3D Potter Printer, gaining hands-on experience with the materiality and limitations of ceramic 3D printing.

This workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to ceramic 3D printing, guiding participants through the entire digital-to-physical process—from designing in software to printing in clay.

Participants in the advanced sessions should have basic 3D modeling knowledge from an external source.
