Handbuilt Altars with Gabe Medina Mendez

Create a handbuilt art piece for your home - fill it with photos of loved ones or your most treasured trinkets!

Still Life Studio's artist-in-residence, Gabe Medina Mendez, will take workshop participants through the steps of building a ceramic altar / clay cupboard (alacena) and creating decorative attachments in this two-day class. Build and decorate a personal altar for your home with charming details, windows, attachments, and whatever whimsical touches you can dream up. Participants will build the altars on the first day of the workshop, and add attachments and decorate with a rainbow of colors to choose from on the second day.

Clay and underglaze will be provided. Projects will be clear-glaze fired after the workshop and be ready for pickup by the end of December.

This workshop is for beginner to advanced potters - basic handbuilding experience is recommended. Ages 15 and up.
