In this course, you’ll be creating a small clay handbag and a bag charm (or a few) of your very own! The class will utilize the fundamentals of handbuilding: attaching, pinching, coiling, slab introduction. Throughout the class, Megan will show you technical demonstrations and assist in workshopping your ideas to make your handbag come to life!
Tracing and cutting handbag pattern from a slab
Attaching slabs to form three dimensional handbag
Adding any other accessories onto the handbag
We will be constructing the bag by using BAGGU’s mini nylon bag as a stencil. From there, we can add any attachments you’d like! Such as bows, spikes, wings, anything you want!
Assignments
You will make 1 handbag with a top handle and an opening inside so it can be a functional vessel to hold water, soil, or any items you’d like. You will also make as many bag charms as you’d like. You can bring references or sketches to class and I can guide you through your desired design.
Essential Information
You share the studio with many other people so be considerate. Please be aware of others and do not leave a mess. You are responsible for cleaning up. Please wear a mask if you are sensitive to dust.
This workshop is for beginner to advanced potters.
