Join us for a four-week course with a more in-depth seminar on Glaze Chemistry. In this class, you will learn about the different ingredients that go into a glaze as we examine how each Oxide and Material works in the chemistry of Glazes. Formulate and Create your own glazes from the available materials in the Chemistry Lab. The science behind glaze chemistry is presented in an accessible, easy-to-follow way with plenty of time each week for Q&A with your instructor.

All skill levels are welcome to take this class, but you should have some experience working with clay, and knowledge of the basic glaze application process is recommended.

All materials and supplies are provided. Classes will consist of a lecture plus time for Q+A and mixing your glazes. We'll be focusing on cone 10 glazes, which will be fired in a reduction atmosphere, however, the principles of glaze chemistry apply across the firing spectrum and you'll be able to use what you've learned in the course to make glazes for any temperature range you wish. If you would like to work on cone 5 glazes in this course, we can help -- please email classes@stilllifeceramics.com after enrolling to let us know.
