Please join us for our Obvara firing! Also known as Baltic Raku, we will experiment with pulling our pieces out of the kiln while they are still hot, and dunking them quickly in the obvara mixture– which is made from water, flour, yeast, and sugar– before sealing the design in water. The result is pottery with beautiful patterns in creamy tans, browns, and blacks.
Bring your bisqueware! Each participant can bring up to 5 pieces averaging 6” x 6” x 6”. Groggy clay tends to hold up better to thermal shock, so we recommend using a body with substantial grog or raku clay. Our house reclaim clay is another great option!
*feathers and sugar are other combustibles you can bring for different effects on the surface
Capped at 10 people, make sure you sign up fast! We can’t wait to see you at the Raku Firing!
588 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
